During the HITEC Fusion - 2025, HITEC doctoral researchers explored the Wendelstein 7-X at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) in Greifswald. There, they also attended lectures by Prof. Robert Wolf and Prof. Felix Wammer. The next day, the doctoral researchers participated in a guided tour of the nuclear power plant in Lubmin.

Participants explored the Garzweiler opencast lignite mine during a guided bus tour in 2024, followed by a visit to Schloss Pfaffendorf. There, they attended a lecture on recultivation by Melanie Gutmann and had the opportunity to ask questions and tour an exhibition on lignite mining.

HITEC doctoral researchers  at  the  Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energy  (IET-2 /HI ERN) that recently joined the HITEC graduate school. HITEC doctoral researchers from Jülich explored the labs and facilities of the IET-2/HI ERN and got in touch during networking events with the resident doctoral researchers.

 

A group of HITEC doctoral researchers visited the sites Morsleben and Asse II as part of a HITEC Day in March 2024. The picture captures them during their underground tour, dressed in mine clothing, after an informative introduction and safety briefing.

 

The HITEC Day at LyondellBasell’s Wesseling site in 2024 provided participants with insights into the company’s cutting-edge innovations in chemical and mechanical recycling, carbon reduction strategies, and digitalization efforts. The event included a series of presentations from experts in these fields, followed by a tour of key production plants.
